Young Women’s Skills and Empowerment
Building Skills. Creating Opportunities. Strengthening Futures.
Practical skills can open doors to employment, self-employment, financial independence, and greater participation in community life.
However, young women in underserved communities may face barriers to accessing vocational training, apprenticeship opportunities, tools, mentorship, and pathways into sustainable livelihoods.
Our Young Women’s Skills and Empowerment Programme aims to help young women acquire practical, market-relevant skills through apprenticeship and skills-development opportunities.
We seek to collaborate with vocational trainers, master craft practitioners, local businesses, community organisations, and other partners to create pathways from training to productive work.
Our focus areas include
- Skills and opportunity assessments: Understanding young women’s interests, existing skills, and local livelihood opportunities.
- Apprenticeships and vocational training: Connecting participants with appropriate practical training and experienced mentors.
- Tools and learning support: Seeking resources that help participants engage in training and develop their skills.
- Mentorship and confidence building: Encouraging personal development, professional confidence, and informed career choices.
- Livelihood and enterprise readiness: Supporting participants to explore employment, self-employment, and small-business opportunities.
Our approach recognises that meaningful empowerment involves more than acquiring a skill. Young women also need opportunities to apply their training, access relevant networks, and build sustainable livelihoods.
Our goal: To help young women develop practical skills, increase their economic opportunities, and build greater independence for themselves and their families.
When young women gain skills and opportunity, the benefits can extend to families and entire communities.
